Am I a Zoomer?

If you are a Baby Boomer that strives for an active lifestyle engaged with the physical and social activities that you love, then you’re a Zoomer… a Baby Boomer with Zip!

Not a Zoomer? No problem!

While many of our professional services are tailored to meet the needs of Zoomers, we are happy to help anyone interested in improving their health.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers; no referral from a doctor is necessary to seek assessment and care.  However, some insurers require a doctor’s referral to cover physiotherapy services.  Please call your insurer to find out about your policy or call us and we will help you navigate the system!

What if my injury is due to a motor vehicle accident or work injury?

We are happy to help with any injuries resulting from a motor vehicle accident.  Simply call the clinic with your policy information and we will help you get your account set up.  Please note that at this time, we are not able to treat work-related injuries that are being covered by the Worker’s Compensation Board.

What should I expect at my initial assessment?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out the intake paperwork and register with our reception.  Please bring a list of medications, insurance information, doctor’s referral (if you have one) and any other medical reports that might be helpful (eg: x-ray reports).

The physiotherapy assessment appointment will last approximately 45-60 minutes with your Physiotherapist.  You will have a conversation with your Physiotherapist to discuss your concerns and goals.  Your Physiotherapist will then do a physical assessment that may include evaluating your movement, muscle strength, nerve function and balance.  At the conclusion of your appointment, your Physiotherapist will discuss the assessment findings and propose a treatment plan.  Typically some treatment will also be offered during the assessment appointment.

Your massage therapy assessment appointment will be 60 minutes.  It will include discussing your areas of concern with your Massage Therapist, and an assessment of the joint and soft tissue mobility in the region.  If it is determined that your issue is appropriate for massage, you will also receive massage therapy treatment during this first session.  At the conclusion of your appointment, your Massage Therapist will discuss recommendations for follow up care.

How long does a treatment session last and how many appointments will I need?

A physiotherapy treatment session lasts from 30-60 minutes depending on your needs.  For massage therapy, you will choose a session length at the time of booking.  Your Massage Therapist will suggest the most appropriate session length for your issue(s).

Your healthcare professional will discuss the anticipated number of appointments needed and/or duration of treatment time expected for improvement/resolution during your initial assessment.  From time to time, your healthcare professional will review this with you as everyone recovers slightly differently and treatment plans may need to be changed.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please wear or bring loose, comfortable fitting clothing; it is ideal if the area of concern can be easily exposed.  For instance, if you have an injury with your hip or knee, it is helpful to wear shorts or pants that easily roll up above the knee; if you have an injury to your shoulder, it is best to have a shirt without sleeves (eg: tank top).

How and when do I pay for my treatments?

We are happy to provide direct billing to many private insurance companies.  Please contact the clinic to find out if we are able to direct bill to your plan.  If you do not have third party insurance or if you have a co-pay portion for which you are responsible, payment is due at the conclusion of each treatment session.  Please note that MSI does not cover any of our services.

How far in advance should I book my appointment?

The earlier you book an appointment, the more likely you will get the ideal time slot for your own schedule.  However, we are happy to provide same-day appointments for any of our services if/when they are available.

Can I request a specific Physiotherapist?

Yes! You are welcome to request the Physiotherapist that you think is the best match to your needs. Scheduling with that therapist will, of course, be subject to that therapist’s availability.

What is your privacy policy?

All patient information is kept private and secure. We will request your written consent to contact your Physician or insurance company if it is deemed necessary. If we do not have your consent, we will not discuss your injuries/condition with anyone.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours’ notice via email or phone to cancel an appointment for our professional services. If adequate notice is not received, a $25 cancellation fee may be applied.

Where can I park?

There is free parking in the lot directly in front of the clinic and in the side lot. There is also free parking on the neighbouring side streets in the area.
